The June Flea Off Market
The Flea is one of Louisville's favorite places to shop local. Flea patrons can expect to find used books, records, fine arts and crafts, antiques, jewelry, vintage clothing…kinda everything under the sun. Blackacre | Best Bloomin' Festival
Come celebrate green living at Blackacre. Flame Run | “Fire & Femininity”
Flame Run is featuring the work of painter Anessa Arehart and a dozen glass artists in their upcoming "Fire & Femininity" all-female exhibition, opening June 3 and running through August 29. The roster of participating glass artists for "Fire and Femininity" will provide a dynamic display of glass techniques by Whitney Olsen, Carolyn Spears, Sarabeth Post, Angela St Vrain, Casey McMains, Dorie Guthrie and many more. An opening night reception and glass blowing demonstration begins Friday.

Cards Under the Stars | “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
The event kicks off on the lawn between the Natural Sciences Building and Grawemeyer Hall. The film begins at sunset. Pre-movie activities include: meet and greet with “Star Wars” characters, children’s inflatables and games, and appearances by members of the Louisville League of Mascots. Concessions will be available for purchase. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and picnic baskets and coolers with snacks and drinks to make for a comfortable evening. Parking is available in the lot next to Grawemeyer Hall (2301 S. Third St.) and behind Ernst Hall (216 Eastern Parkway). Cards Under the Stars will continue Friday, June 24 with “Zootopia” and Friday, July 22 with “Inside Out."

PLAY Dance Bar | BLōFISH Kickstarter Launch Party
The long-awaited BLōFISH pants and underwear are finally here for pre-order! To celebrate, BLōFISH is releasing them exclusively on the crowd-sourcing platform Kickstarter. The underground (is that underwater?) Ohio River Surf Club celebrates summer with a grand Tiki party on Friday June 3. Louisville’s world-famous surf rock band, Interia, featuring members of Wanda Jackson’s touring band, Bodeco and ex-members of the Ladybirds will perform in all their glory. World-class Tiki cocktails featuring Copper & Kings American Brandy will be served: guests can look forward to the classic Daiquiri, the Suffering Bastard, the Scorpion, and other groovy concoctions. Food will be served: Butchertown Pie Company pasties, delicious grilled brats and summer delights will be on sale. Guests are encouraged to wear hula skirts, or just skirts, Hawaiian shirts, swimsuits, shorts, bikinis and flip-flops.

8th Annual Butchertown Art Fair
The 8th Annual Butchertown Art Fair will feature 100+ artists (including Drock Press, featured above in the article image) food trucks, drinks, kids' activities, and more. Hildegard House is the nonprofit partner this year, so attendees are asked to bring disposable travel items to donate like toothbrushes and deodorant. The art fair is held in historic Butchertown on a beautiful tree-lined street amongst 19th century homes.

Bernheim Big Tree Hug Challenge
Become a part of history! Join us for the Bernheim Big Tree Hug Challenge, where attendees will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for people hugging trees at the same time at the same location. The attempt will require at least 1,201 tree huggers to break the record, but Bernheim wants to attract upwards of 3,000 people to not only break the record, but to hold that title for years to come. South Korea holds the current record. The tree hug will be a celebration of the role trees play in our lives and will include a full afternoon of fun tree-themed activities falong with music and food vendors. The actual tree hug takes place at 2:30 p.m. Huggers are asked to arrive no later than 1:30 to be assigned their tree and get in place for the official count. The Bernheim Big Tree Hug Challenge is hosted in conjunction with the traveling exhibit Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat on display at Bernheim through July 5. There is no cost to participate, but pre-registration is recommended.
