From dealing with unannounced visits from cantankerous extended family, to making sure that the gift-count between the kids is equitable, the days leading up to Christmas can be incredibly high-stress. And by the time the weekend before Christmas has arrived, the typical holiday distractions have lost their appeal.
So why not try something unique this year- that will both entertain family members of all ages, and work out any Yuletide anxiety- and register for Sweaty Sheep’s “Merry Christmas 5k”! Your $10 registration fee supports both Sweaty Sheep, a Christian outreach program, and the homeless community of Louisville.
This event will include:
- Church choirs at every mile.
- An Eggnog Challenge option for any brave racers who decides to down a 4-ounce glass of eggnog at each mile marker
- Dinner after the race with some of Louisville’s homeless community
- An optional Christmas worship service after dinner.
Awards will be given for the 5k overall men’s and women’s winners, the eggnog challenge winner, and the best Christmas running/walking attire- you may just have a use for the winter green and red sweater complete with tinsel-fringe, lovingly hand-knitted by Aunt Helen, after all.
The race will take place December 22nd 3:30 pm at the Belle of Louisville, with the post-race dinner with the homeless on the Presbyterian Center Lawn (100 Witherspoon in between Humana and the Yum Center).
For additional registration information visit the Sweaty Sheep website, and register in advance at Fleet Feet, Ken Combs, or Blue Mile, anytime until the morning of December 22nd. Be sure to register early, and consider donating extra towards an event that will be a ton of Christmas fun for the entire family!
