A couple of months ago, I received a group message from a close friend asking, “Hey! This looks like fun! Anyone interested?” Attached was a link to something called the Dirty Girl.
Um, what?
So, I clicked on the link and discovered that I was being asked if I wanted to do a 5K run through the mud.
Again…..um, what?
And yet my response to her was an enthusiastic, “Heck, yeah!”
The Dirty Girl is a women’s only 5k obstacle mud run that raises funds for breast cancer awareness and research. It’s untimed and is designed for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Its primary goal is for the participants to have a great time.
This is good, as I not only whole-heartedly support breast cancer research and awareness and having fun but I also am not exactly what one could call “athletic.”
So, this Saturday, August 24, the Dirty Girl will be run on the banks of the Ohio River at Louisville Champions Park.
Interested?
Visit Dirty Girl Louisville for more information and to register either as an individual or as a team.
There’s even a Groupon available, although it says that quantities are limited.
See you there.
I’ll be the one covered in mud.
