Kick off the month of October with the Highland Cup 5K Run/Walk, a 3.1 mile loop from Douglas Boulevard Christian Church to Big Rock and back. The event is Saturday, October 1 at 8:00 a.m., to be followed by a pancake breakfast at the church from 8:30-9:30.

The course is a challenging hilly course winding through one of Louisville’s most scenic neighborhoods past beautiful historic homes and into Cherokee Park. The Highland Cup is a great opportunity to test your endurance on the hills or enjoy a stroll and savor a lovely fall morning with your family.

The race is a benefit for Highland Community Ministries, an organization of churches in the that provide the Highlands community eldercare services, day care, individual and family assistance, youth sports programs and more.

If you have a need for speed, there will be awards for top runners. The top 3 overall male and female runners will receive awards, and there will be an award for the top two runners by age group (9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and over)

Registration for the race is $22 for an adult, $17 for youth. Participants will receive a high quality race t-shirt and other swag. Register in-store at Fleet Feet or online here.

The pancake breakfast is $4 for race participants, $5 for adults, and $3 for children 14 & under. Tickets for the breakfast will be sold at the door.
