    Angel McCoughtry had another great week, while Shoni Schimmel struggled a little bit coming off the bench for the Atlanta Dream.

    Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars, who are now standouts for the Dream, did in the second week of the WNBA season.  

    McCoughtry averaged 20 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game for Atlanta, which went 1-2.

    She tallied a team-high 21 points, grabbed a team-high tying six rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded three steals in Atlanta’s 64-61 win at Washington last Friday night. McCoughtry was 7 for 18 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range, and 5-for-5 from the free throw line while also committing one turnover in 28 minutes.

    She tallied a game-high 24 points in the Dream’s 82-64 loss at Connecticut on Sunday afternoon. McCoughtry was 9 for 23 from the field, including 2 of 5 from 3-point range, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line while also recording two rebounds, one assist, one steal and four turnovers in 36 minutes.

    Three days later she scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded three steals in Atlanta’s 90-79 loss to visiting Indiana. McCoughtry was 5-for-12 from the field, including 0 of 1 from 3-point range, and 5-for-9 from the free throw line while committing only one turnover in 28 minutes.

    McCoughtry is averaging 19.7 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists in the Dream’s first six games.

    Meanwhile Schimmel averaged 4.3 points and two assists per game this past week. 

    She tallied six points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Dream’s win at Washington last Friday. Schimmel was 2-for-5 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range, while also committing four turnovers in 17 minutes off the bench.

    She went scoreless in 10 minutes off the bench in Atlanta’s loss at Connecticut on Sunday. Schimmel missed both her field-goal attempts, including one from 3-point range, while also committing three turnovers.

    She scored seven points and dished out three assists off the bench in the Dream’s loss to Indiana on Wednesday. Schimmel was 2-for-6 from the field, including 2 of 5 from 3-point range and 1-for-2 from the free throw line while also recording two rebounds, one steal and two turnovers in 22 minutes.

    Schimmel is averaging 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists through Atlanta’s first six games.

    Atlanta (2-4), which is tied for last in the Eastern Conference, next hosts Chicago on Friday night and New York on Sunday before playing at Chicago next Wednesday afternoon.
