Angel McCoughtry had another great week while Shoni Schimmel continued to struggle (statistically speaking any way) coming off the bench for the Atlanta Dream.

Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars, who are now standouts for the Dream, did in the third week of the WNBA season.

McCoughtry averaged 23 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game for Atlanta, which went 1-2.

She tallied a team-high 18 points (including a game-winning 16-foot jumper at the buzzer), while also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out six assists in Atlanta’s 74-73 win over visiting Chicago last Friday night. McCoughtry was 7 for 18 from the field, including 0 of 1 from 3-point range, and 4-for-5 from the free throw line while also recording three steals and five turnovers in 34 minutes.

She tallied a team-high 17 points in the Dream’s 73-64 loss to visiting New York on Sunday afternoon. McCoughtry was 4 for 16 from the field, including 0 of 4 from 3-point range, and 9-for-9 from the free throw line while also recording five rebounds, four assists and four turnovers in 30 minutes before fouling out.

She tallied a team-high 34 points (but couldn’t overcome 45 from Chicago’s Elena Delle Donne), grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out six assists in Atlanta’s 100-96 overtime loss to the host Sky on Wednesday afternoon. McCoughtry was 13-for-26 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range, and 5-for-6 from the free throw line while also blocking two shots, recording one steal and committing eight turnovers in 42 minutes.

McCoughtry is averaging 20.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the Dream’s first nine games.

Meanwhile Schimmel averaged three points and 2.3 assists per game this past week.

She scored seven points and dished out four assists in the Dream’s win over Chicago last Friday, which was part of Atlanta’s Heritage series games honoring Native American culture. Schimmel was 3-for-10 from the field, including 0 of 2 from 3-point range, and 1 for 2 from the free throw line while also grabbing three rebounds and committing three turnovers in 16 minutes off the bench.

She tallied two points and two assists off the bench in Atlanta’s loss to visiting New York on Sunday. Schimmel missed both her field-goal attempts, but hit both her free throw tries while also grabbing one rebound and committing three turnovers in 13 minutes.

She played only one minute, dishing out one assist in the Dream’s OT loss at Chicago on Wednesday.

Schimmel is averaging 4.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists through Atlanta’s first nine games.

Atlanta (3-6), which is in last place in the Eastern Conference, next hosts Washington on Friday night, Seattle on Sunday afternoon and Tulsa on Tuesday night.
