Angel McCoughtry had three so-so games, while Shoni Schimmel had three of her best of the season.

Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars, who now play for the Atlanta Dream, did in the eighth week of the WNBA season.

Prior to that, though, both played fairly well in the Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star game. Schimmel, the game’s reigning MVP, had 13 points and a team-high six assists while McCoughtry added nine points in starting roles for the Eastern Conference, which fell 117-112 to the Western Conference last Saturday.

After that McCoughtry averaged 13 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three games for Atlanta, which went 0-3 this past week.

She tallied a team-high 14 points in the Dream’s 102-85 loss at San Antonio this past Wednesday night. McCoughtry was 4 for 9 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line, but only had one rebound, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot in 20 minutes.

Two nights later she only tallied nine points in an 86-70 loss at Minnesota. McCoughtry was 4 for 11 from the field, including 0 of 1 from 3-point range, and 1 for 2 from the free throw line while also recording four assists, three steals, two rebounds and four turnovers in 21 minutes.

Sunday afternoon she rebounded, scoring 16 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out three assists in a 71-68 loss to defending champion Phoenix. McCoughtry was 7 for 19 from the field, including 1 of 4 from 3-point range, and 1 for 2 from the free throw line while recording one steal, blocking one shot and committing four turnovers.

So far this season McCoughtry is averaging 19.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the Dream’s 20 games.

Meanwhile Schimmel seemed to carry over her performance in the All-Star game into the week's, averaging 7.7 points, 6.3 assists and 22.7 minutes off the bench in Atlanta’s three games.

First she tallied 12 points and seven assists in the Dream’s loss to the Stars. Schimmel was 5 for 9 from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range, while also grabbing two rebounds and committing two turnovers in 25 minutes.

Two nights later she went scoreless, but had a season-high 10 assists and five rebounds in Atlanta’s loss to the Lynx. Schimmel was 0-for-5 from the field, including 0 of 3 from 3-point range, while recording one steal and committing two turnovers in 23 minutes.

Sunday she scored 11 points and recorded three steals in the Dream’s loss to the Mercury. Schimmel was 4 for 9 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, while grabbing two rebounds, dishing out two assists and committing two turnovers in 20 minutes.

So far this season Schimmel is averaging 5.4 points, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds and 16.4 minutes per game.

Atlanta (7-13), which is in last place in the Eastern Conference and has a five-game losing streak, will next play at Indiana on Friday night and at Tulsa next Sunday.
