Angel McCoughtry had two great games, while Shoni Schimmel had one this past week.

Here’s a closer look at how the former University of Louisville stars, who now play for the Atlanta Dream, did in the 14th, and final, week of the WNBA regular season.

McCoughtry averaged 19.3 points, four rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games for Atlanta, which went 2-1.

First she tallied a game-high 23 points off the bench in the Dream’s 90-60 lambasting of visiting Los Angeles, which sat out several key players, Wednesday night to give Atlanta coach Michael Cooper his 200th victory. McCoughtry, in her continuing role as the Dream’s sixth woman, was 8 for 14 from the field, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range, and 6 for 6 from the free throw line while also registering four rebounds, four steals, two assists and one turnover in 26 minutes.

Two nights later she tallied 11 points in Atlanta’s 75-67 loss to visiting Indiana. McCoughtry was 4 for 12 from the field, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while also recording three rebounds, two assists, one steal and four turnovers before fouling out in only 22 minutes.

Then Sunday afternoon she scored a game-high 24 points off the bench to lead the Dream to a 73-71 win at Washington, which finished three games ahead of Atlanta to claim in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. McCoughtry was 10 for 20 from the field, including 3 of 7 from 3-point range, and 1 for 1 from the free throw line while also grabbing five rebounds, recording three steals, dishing out two assists, blocking one shot and committing two turnovers in 31 minutes.

This season McCoughtry averaged 20.1 points (which ranked third in the league), 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.1 steals (which ranked second in the WNBA) and a league-high 3.2 turnovers in the Dream’s 34 games.

Schimmel, meanwhile, averaged 8.7 points and 3.3 assists in a trio of starts for Atlanta this past week.

She scored 15 points and dished out five assists in the Dream’s win over the Sparks on Wednesday night. Schimmel was 5 for 15 from the field, including 5 of 11 from 3-point range, while also recording four steals, three rebounds and three turnovers in 25 minutes.

Two nights later she tallied five points and five turnovers in Atlanta’s loss to the Fever. Schimmel was 2 for 8 from the field, including 1 of 4 from 3-point range, while also registering two rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes.
