Angel McCoughtry had another very good week while Shoni Schimmel barely got off the bench in a pair of games for the Atlanta Dream.

Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars did in the fifth week of the WNBA season.

McCoughtry averaged 24 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists in two games, in which Atlanta went 1-1.

She scored a game-high 23 points in the Dream’s 72-64 win over visiting Seattle on Sunday. She was 8 for 17 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and 4 for 6 from the free throw line, while also dishing out four assists and grabbing three rebounds. McCoughtry also added two steals, one blocked shot and one turnover in 32 minutes.

Then Tuesday night she scored a game-high 25 points in Atlanta’s 85-75 loss to visiting Tulsa in a game that was televised on ESPN2. She was 8 for 28 from the field, including 1 of 2 from 3-point range, and 8 for 11 from the free throw line while also grabbing nine rebounds and three assists. McCoughtry also added one steal, one block and committed three turnovers in 36 minutes.

So far this season, McCoughtry is averaging 21.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the Dream’s first 12 games.

Meanwhile Schimmel, who has been trying to work her way back in shape after taking most of the offseason off, didn’t score and had one assist and two turnovers in two minutes in the Dream’s victory over the Storm.

Two nights later she received the dreaded “DNP Coach’s Decision” in Atlanta’s loss to Tulsa.

Schimmel is averaging 4.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists through the Dream’s first 12 games.

Atlanta (5-7), which is in last place in the Eastern Conference, next hosts New York at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon before playing at Phoenix at 10 p.m. next Tuesday night and at Los Angeles at 3:30 p.m. next Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, both McCoughtry and Schimmel are still among the leading vote-getters for the WNBA All-Star game (voting continues until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 9 on wnba.com, the WNBA App, Twitter and Facebook). The WNBA will announce the All-Star starters during an ESPN telecast of SportsCenter on Tuesday, July 14.
