Angel McCoughtry had two very good games and Shoni Schimmel had two solid outings as well.

Here’s a closer look at how the two former University of Louisville stars, who now play for the Atlanta Dream, did in the ninth week of the WNBA season.

McCoughtry averaged 23 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two games for Atlanta, which went 1-1.

She tallied game-highs in points (23) and rebounds (eight) off the bench in the Dream’s 106-77 loss at Indiana this past Friday night. McCoughtry was 6 for 16 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line while also dishing out three assists, recording two steals, blocking one shot and committing one turnover in 27 minutes.

Two days later she tallied 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Atlanta to a 98-90 win at Tulsa to end the Dream’s nightmarish six-game losing streak. In the victory McCoughtry was 8 for 11 from the field, including 1 of 1 from 3-point range, and 6 for 8 from the free throw line while also dishing out four assists, recording one steal and committing three turnovers in 32 minutes.

So far this season McCoughtry is averaging 19.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in the Dream’s 22 games.

Schimmel (pictured above) averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 assists and 18 minutes in a pair of starts for Atlanta.

She had eight points, four rebounds and three assists in the Dream’s lopsided loss to the Fever. Schimmel was 3 for 5 from the field, including 1 of 2 from 3-point range, and 1 for 1 from the free throw line while also blocking one shot and committing a game-high seven turnovers in 21 minutes.

Then Sunday she tallied 13 points in Atlanta’s win over the Shock. Schimmel was 4 for 6 from the field, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range, and 4 for 5 from the free throw line while also dishing out two assists against three turnovers in only 15 minutes.

Schimmel is averaging six points, 3.1 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 16.6 minutes per game this season.

Atlanta (8-14), which is in last place in the Eastern Conference, next hosts Minnesota on Friday night and Connecticut on Sunday afternoon.
