    Print this page

Louisville’s food scene is so much more than hot browns, cheese burgers, tacos and BBQ. We have an amazing collection of food from a variety of cultures if you know where to look.

Indian food is some of the best comfort food in the world. The best place in Louisville to get traditional Punjabi style Indian cuisine is Shalimar Indian Restaurant. The word Shalimar means “the great place” and when you walk away from a meal at Shalimar, you’ll understand the name. You’re stomach, heart, and mind will be full.

This week’s best bite goes to Shalimar Indian Restaurant’s Chicken Tikka Masala. The boneless chicken breast is cooked in tomato and butter sauce. It’s served with rice and onion chutney for $11.95.  Creamy, warm and comforting, Chicken Tikka Masala is full of flavor and spice without being overbearing. It’s wonderful poured over rice and over the moon delicious when you take the naan, unleavened bread, and sop up the tikka masala sauce. I love this dish and once you try it you will, too. It’s quite addictive.

Never had Indian food? Shalimar's lunch buffet $8.99 to $9.99 is available seven days a week from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm. It's a great way to try a large variety of dishes to find what fits your tastebuds best. If you love Indian food like I do, then you’ll be happy to know that it is all-you-can-eat.

Make a reservation, stop by or order online to get some of the best Indian food you will ever experience. Bonus, with Takeout Taxi, your food can be delivered to your home, office, or hotel in 30 to 60 minutes.
