Egg Drop Soup from August Moon

When I think about Chinese food, it’s coupled with the idea of carryout and chain restaurants. But sometimes it’s fun to stay and enjoy the dining experience. August Moon Chinese Bistro, located on Lexington Road, is a just the spot to be served delicious, Asian cuisine. It’s a cool space and, in warmer weather, I thoroughly enjoy their patio area.

This week’s best bite goes to August Moon’s Egg Drop Soup. Wispy beaten eggs in boiled chicken broth, topped with finely chopped scallions warms your soul. Add in the crispy noodles and it’s near perfection. I typically don’t like egg drop soup at other restaurants and only order it when I go to August Moon. Without the nudge of a friend, I would have never tried this amazing delight and suggest you should try it. So good.

All the entrees are served with rice and your choice of soup or spring roll. On the lunch menu, all the appetizers are $6.50 and all entrees are $9.50. My favorite entrees are the spicy chicken stir fry and roasted peanut and the Mongolian style spicy beef with white onions and scallions. I actually like to mix these two dishes together with brown rice. There’s something about the texture and crunch of the roasted peanut that makes you crave the spicy chicken stir fry all the time.

Chef Peng S. Looi not only creates dishes for you to enjoy at his restaurant but he has a few of his recipes online for you to try at home. Visit the August Moon website to learn how to make hot and sour soup and general chicken.

August Moon is open 7 days a week and open 11:30 am until 4:00 pm for lunch.
