It’s hard to believe that it’s been four months since Over the 9 opened in the renovated old tasting space at Old 502 and Falls City. Chef Griffin Paulin has created a sophistically-executed culinary program based on traditional pub fare with uncommon ingredients. He released a new menu this week.
This week’s best bite is Over the 9’s kielbasa. This small plate features kiełbasa, a type of Central European sausage, which is also known as Polish sausage with red cabbage kraut and spätzle ($8). Although the sausage was flavorful and delicious, the real winner in this dish is the red cabbage kraut. It has the perfect tartness to compliment the spätzle (small dumpling) and sausage.
Other notable menu items at Over the 9 include the bone marrow with porchetta drippings, miso, pistou and ciabatta ($7), the poussin entree which is a Marksbury Farms hen, bourbon & pecan risotto, char siu chutney, apricot and heirloom carrot ($14) and the skillet mac and cheese ($4). Over the 9 is located on South 10th Street in downtown Louisville. They’re open for lunch and dinner.
