Blueberries & Duck Confit Pancakes from Mussel & Burger Bar

As a foodie, I'm always being asked what is my favorite restaurant. For me this is a very difficult question because I love a variety of foods and one place just can't contain all my loves. But the go-to place, if you’re in the east end is Mussel & Burger Bar. I take all my friends and recommend it to all of my out-of-town guests.

Although I have been to Mussel & Burger Bar many times, today was the first time I was there for brunch. They serve brunch on Sundays from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Everything on the brunch menu looked so tempting. I just couldn’t pass it up and you shouldn’t either.

This week's best bite goes to Mussel & Burger Bar's Blueberries & Duck Confit Pancakes. The pancakes are filled with blueberries and duck confit, topped with foie gras butter, maple syrup and fruit. Moist, savory, sweet and light are the best words to describe these perfect brunch pancakes. The duck is tender and savory and compliments the sweetness of the pancakes and blueberries. The plate is beautiful as the pancakes are surrounded by fresh blackberries, strawberries and raspberries. You get a little bit of everything in one dish for $12.

If you’re not in the mood for brunch, the regular menu is still available during brunch hours. The Local Burger is 8 ounces of Sherwood’s farms grass fed ground beef with Kenny’s Gouda cheese, Annett’s Farms tomato, onions and lettuce. It’s served with Annett’s heirloom potatoes and roasted garlic aioli for $16 and is one of my favorites. Looking to cut back on the carbs and calories? Order The Local Burger without the bun and ask to replace the potatoes with the grilled veggies of the day. The grilled veggies are usually brussels sprouts and they are grilled to perfection.

My other favorites include the Argentinian Burger, the Korean BBQ Wings and the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries are served with smoked pineapple dipping sauce and they’re the best in all of Louisville. Not only do they have a great flavor, they have the perfect amount of crunch.

Mussel & Burger Bar has a wide variety of specialty burgers, mussels and other delicious treats. Here's their brunch menu.
