    Artesano's Bombas de Toro

    Looking for a place to get away during the long holiday weekend but don’t want to leave Louisville? Ole Restaurant Group’s newest hot spot Artesano is like taking a mini Spanish vacation. Artesano Vino Tapas Y Mas is a casual and authentic Spanish tapas restaurant with fresh and local ingredients. The décor, music and atmosphere was created to resemble the tapas restaurants in Spain.

    This week’s best bite is Artesano’s bombas de toro. The bombas de toro is oxtail short rib stuffed potato balls with oxtail sauce and roaster pepper aioli ($11). For meat and potato fans, this is your tapas dish. Every aspect of the bombas de toro is well thought out and executed from the variety of flavors and textures to the way it's beautifully plated. 

    Other notable dishes from Artesano's include the datiles rellenos or otherwise known as madjool dates stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in applewood smoked bacon ($10) and the albondigas, spanish style meatballs with tetilla cheese ($8). Please leave room for dessert. Try the chocolate churros which are spanish style doughnuts coated with sugar and served with mango piscoso, milk chocolate with cajeta and red berries and port for dipping ($8). The churros had a surprising moist middle which is a nice departure from a standard churro. Plus, it's a lot of fun dipping them in the three unique but equally tasty sauces. Artesano is located in Westport Village.
