When you think about a place to eat in the Mall, many of us immediately think of a chain restaurant with unhealthy food. Did you know the Yang Kee Noodle is a local Asian stir-fry eatery with several healthier options? The recipes at Yang Kee Noodle were developed by chef and partner John D. Castro, Executive Chef at Sullivan University. The food is cooked with 100% grapeseed oil and has no added MSG. The spring rolls, potstickers, sauces and soups are handcrafted in-house and prepared from scratch daily. Everything is cooked to order so you can make special dietary requests: for example, you can order any of the noodle dishes over veggies. You can also check out all of Yang Kee Noodle's nutrition information on the website.
This week’s best bite is Yang Kee Noodle’s firecracker chicken. Get it over lo mein noodles or veggies, it’s the Korean chili sauce that takes this dish to the next level. Firecracker Chicken is made of lo mein, walnuts, brococoli, onions, water chestnuts and Korean chili sauce ($8.49). The heat from the sauce combined with the other ingredients will spice up your life.
Other favorites at Yang Kee Noodle include the Kung Pow chicken ($8.25), edamame ($3.49), crispy spring rolls ($1.79) and the house salad ($3.19). Yang Kee Noodle has two locations: Oxmoor Mall and in Middletown Commons. For those of you on the go, you can call ahead and get curbside carry-out.
