    It's that wonderful time of year when a Pegasus Pin will get you into about anything. But there's lots more than Derby stuff happening in the 'Ville this weekend. Here's where to go and what to do!

    U.S. Bank Great Balloonfest: Great Balloon Rush-Hour Race
    Enjoy this exciting event during the second day of the annual Balloonfest, part of the Derby Festival.

    Mother’s Day Shopping Event at the Paddock Shops
    Shoppers will receive a free $30 gift card from Venetian Nails & Spa or Omagi Aveda Salon & Spa with a receipt dated April 29, 30th or May 1 totaling $100 or more from any Paddock Shops Stores or Restaurants.

    Stock Yards Bank & Trust $1 Million Hole-in-One Golf Contest
    Take a shot at a hole-in-one and the $1 million dollar prize during the Kentucky Derby Festival's most competitive event.

    Ohio Valley Wrestling Run for the Ropes
    Join us for a special meet-and-greet with the stars of Ohio Valley Wrestling and six big matches, including a special “all-for-1 one-for-all” over the top rope Battle Royal.

    13th Annual Brush, Bottle and Barrel of the Bluegrass
    This exciting event offers gourmet hors d’oeuvres, music, drinks, and fabulous art all at one fun-filled soirée. Since it began over a decade ago, Legal Aid’s signature event has raised over $450,000 to benefit our mission of providing free legal services to Kentuckians in poverty.

    Live Music with Strive
    Louisville Salt Cave and Strive are joining to combine the healing properties of the Louisville Salt Cave with the added benefit of live, acoustic, guided relaxation to music with Strive's Nina Rodahaffer and Cheyenne Mize. This event will give twelve individuals the chance to take 45 minutes to actively engage their senses and help to reduce their level of stress and anxiety with lasting effects.

    U.S. Bank Great Balloon Glow
    Bring your family to enjoy one of the most anticipated events of balloon race weekend is the U.S. Bank Derby Festival Great Balloon Glow. This spectacular event truly rivals the race in popularity with more than 50,000 fans in attendance annually!

    The Down Syndrome of Louisville Gallop Gala
    Raise money for families touched by Down Sydrome at this annual gala. This event will feature complimentary cocktails and dinner, followed by a live auction and performance by Nashville-based band Paul Childers and The Black Tie Affair.

    The Louisville Crashers
    Dance and sing along with the Louisville Crashers as part of Old Louisville LIVE. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

    An Evening With Leo Kottke
    Enjoy the music of Leo Kottke at an intimate performance in Louisville’s Clifton neighborhood.

    “Toruk – The First Flight” by Cirque Du Soleil
    “TORUK – The First Flight,” inspired by James Cameron’s AVATAR, a live experience by Cirque du Soleil®, envisions a world beyond imagination set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film.

    Waterfront Jam
    This is one night of Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville that you won’t want to miss. This live entertainment event, presented by the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign, will include live music on two stages at Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville featuring over 30 local and regional bands and 7 national acts beginning April 28.

    U.S. Bank Great Balloon Race
    This event is one of Louisville’s most beloved family traditions. The multi-race docket gives spectators young and old more chances to take in the exhilarating view of boundless colors and shapes.

    Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon/Minimarathon
    Come out and cheer on the hundreds of athletes in this year’s Derby Festival marathon and minimarathon.
    When: April 30, 7:30am – 12pm

    Cost: Free for spectators
    Kentucky Derby Festival Academic Challenge
    The Academic Challenge Presented by Sullivan University represents a great opportunity for students from all over the county to test their acumen by answering questions pertaining to math, science, social studies, language arts and humanities.  The competition will feature 28 teams from local elementary schools and a total of 300 students.  The top four schools will receive trophies, with the champion and runner-up also receiving monetary awards.

    Indiana Frontier Experience
    Featuring immersive and interactive Indiana-based history from the period 1800-1816, the event will bring to life the days of pre-statehood in the Indiana Territory.

    Minecraft in a Movie Theatre
    Your gamers will play, collaborate and socialize on teams with 4-7 members their own age as they build, battle and use their creativity and imagination. Minecraft encourages teamwork and helps develop skills like reading, organization, planning and problem solving.

    Kentucky Muscle NPC Derby Championship
    The 2016 NPC Derby Festival Championships is a fitness, figure, swimwear and bodybuilding competition featuring amateurs and pro athletes from across the country.

    The Louisville Quest! – Highlands Route
    This is an exciting sight-seeing tour, scavenger hunt & race, all rolled into one. Our Highlands Route starts at the gazebo in Willow Park, and explores the fun locations along Bardstown Road in the Highlands. Each team uses a phone app to score the highest amount of points before time runs out. All Quests end with an award ceremony where teams compare notes, enjoy refreshments, and the top teams earn token awards.

    Jockey Pat Day at A Taste of Kentucky
    Legendary Jockey Pat Day is scheduled to autograph barrel heads at this event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Mom’s Closet Resource Center.

    Volunteer Trail Ranger Training
    Love to hike at Bernheim? Want to help our trails to stay safe and beautiful? Join our group of volunteer Trail Rangers! Being a trail ranger is one of the easiest ways to give back to Bernheim. Timing is flexible – just come out for a hike any time during our regular hours – and hike a trail of your choosing. Along the way, check for any conditions that make the trail less safe and report those back to our staff. That’s it! This training will demonstrate the best ways to report on trail conditions, as well as how to read Bernheim’s trail maps and more.

    Da’Ville Classic Drumline Showcase
    The Da’Ville Classic Drum Line Showcase is comprised of community and high school drum lines from Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

    Hats and Brims – A Pre-Derby Day Party
    Join us as we celebrate what makes Louisville special: Derby time and Hats! Must be at least 21 to attend this event. A cash bar with drink specials will be available. Special guest celebrity judges Cyndy Tandy (creator and host of Louisville Uncovered) and Tana Leggo (model and actress) will determine who's the best dressed! There will be cash prizes for the winners so don't be shy!

    Derbyhole Classic
    Open to all cornhole players, no two ACO-PRO players. Both competitive and recreational players are welcome!

    Ken-Ducky Derby
    20,000 ducks will be launched into the Ohio River at this event for a chance for someone to win a brand new Nissan Versa courtesy of Swope Family of Dealerships. The event is to benefit the work of Harbor House, supporting adults with disabilities and their families.

    Zumba Fitness Party
    Come jam with us at the Zumba Fitness Party sponsored by Eleet Stone Countertops! We’re taking over the stage at Waterfront Park. Join the best Zumba Fitness instructors in the region, wear comfortable clothes and come out to burn some calories with the fitness craze that’s sweeping the nation!

    TheSlice: Spice, Style and Soul
    TheSlice is the quintessential spring activity in Louisville, Kentucky – great food and fantastic music. Getting its start as a modest festival preparing the city for the upcoming Kentucky Derby, TheSlice has grown to be the premiere event in West Louisville.

    Fishing for Kosair Kids
    Join members of the FOP Lodge at Taylorsville Lake State Park, Possum Ridge Boat Ramp for a “reel” good time! Winners of the first place prize will win $500 (based on minimum of 50 boats). There will be a cookout for all participants following the tournament. All proceeds from the event will benefit Kosair Charities.

    PNC Tour De Lou
    This exciting cycling event features a 20-mile ride for intermediate riders and a 35-mile ride for experienced cyclists.

    Mayor’s Derby Brunch
    Come out and enjoy a festive brunch featuring a traditional Kentucky breakfast, live riverboat jazz, horse-drawn carriage rides and tours of the Farnsley-Moremen property, including the newly renovated Moremen Family Chapel.

    Children’s Tea
    Children are encouraged to dress like a prince or princess for this social event with the members of the Derby Festival’s 2016 Royal Court. The Children’s Tea is coordinated by The Fillies, Inc., a local volunteer group that works closely with the Derby Festival.

    Little Sisters of the Poor Annual Turtle Derby and Chicken Dinner
    Bring your family out to witness an exciting and silly turtle race and enjoy a delicious chicken dinner.

    First Sunday Nature Hike
    Join Bernheim Volunteer Naturalist Joe Rogers for an engaging nature hike on the first Sunday of each month. Registration is not required; just show up with your curiosity and comfortable walking shoes.

    Louisville Youth Orchestra Concert
    This is the sixth year for the Louisville Youth Orchestra Concert to be part of the Derby Festival’s main event schedule. The concert will feature nine Louisville Youth Orchestra ensembles.

    Minifun Run
    or the fourth annual miniFun Run presented by Humana! The miniFun Run gives younger athletes a chance to participate in a fitness event geared specifically towards them. In 2016 the miniFun Run will consist of an obstacle course allowing participants to run, jump and climb their way to the finish!

    Celebration Sunday
    Bring the whole family out to enjoy this exciting Christian contemporary concert presented by 88.5FM WJIE!

    2nd Annual Derby Party for the Backside
    Kick off Derby week at the best Derby pig roast in town! Enjoy live music by Appalatin, dancing and lots of pork prepared by the best chefs in town, while mingling with true Derby insiders – backside workers!
