The Va Va Vixens have returned to the Alley Theater with their fourth wildly popular production. Va Va Vintage is a Vaudeville-style burlesque show that hearkens back to the days of black and white movies, sinister villains twirling handlebar mustaches, and damsels trying to escape being tied to railroad tracks. With audience members spanning age 18 to 80, the lingerie-clad ladies entertained with a mixture of flexibility, cheeky humor, and a little magic.

The emcee for the evening, Louisville.com’s own Divinity Rose, proved that you don’t have to be a size 0 to be sexy. In a sparkly, red, Jessica Rabbit-esque gown, her curves caught the interest of everyone in the room with her sultry singing and naughty humor. Each act that followed was just as attention-grabbing. Act one included a mesmerizing choreographed dance with brightly colored parasols, an impressive acrobatic turn on a suspended hoop, and comical magic from Darshwood the Conjurer.

A brief intermission brought the opportunity for admirers to visit the kissing booth for a little lip-lock and a photo with one of the lovely ladies.

Act two was quite a bit racier than the first, including a sudsy striptease, a yoga pole dance that I only wish I could attempt to pull off, and art with multi-colored body paint. I particularly enjoyed the rousing Can-Can, which made me long for the romance and passion of Paris and the Moulin Rouge. With fast-paced music and full, ruffled skirts being flipped about, it was difficult to resist getting caught up in the energy of the dance.

If you are looking for a night out with the girls, or a little date night fun, look no further than Va Va Vintage. There are still two shows left this weekend, but be sure to get your ticket ahead of time as they have been known to sell out.
