The Va Va Vixens are inviting Louisville into their home at Art Sanctuary for the return of their show "Va Va Vortex," which premiered and sold out at Headliners in June.

In this show, time traveler Theodore Esquire the Third (played by Coop Deville) finds himself lost through the ages with a broken time travel lantern and meets up with a post-apocalyptic bag lady (Deadly Dita Deville.) The two end up swirling through many decades and centuries to see a vortex of dance numbers, sultry scenes and one hilarious Lady Godiva.

The show reopened on the new stage in the Germantown venue on October 9 and will run again October 16 and 17. Art Sanctuary founder Lisa Frye is ecstatic to have a second event space in the Germantown warehouse (where the Vixens practice) that also houses art studios and shows . The space is full of festive decoration and the artsy bar offers a selection of beers, wines and soda. Guests at the Vixens' show will enjoy the usual lineup of bunnies walking around with trays of goodies. The Vixens cast has changed up as a few regulars have been booked into other exciting opportunities (Madame Michon is training with the New England Center for Circus Arts, for example) , but  the show still runs with most of the same routines and is no less impressive.

There were a few technical difficulties the first night in the new venue, but the kinks were worked out by the second act. The standing ovation at the end of the performace, despite the difficulties, showcases just why this troupe was recently "Best Performance Troupe" in Louisville by the LEO's Reader's Choice Awards.  While all of the performers strut their stuff in a way that has audiences coming back, the highlights of Va Va Vortex are seeing the time traveler perform a perfect "Dirty Dancing" lift, the large group numbers, the aerial acts, and the beautiful costumes and props. Lady Phoenix stands out with a striking smile and energy level, and I got cold chills as Julius Teaser sang "Creep."

Skip the haunts if you're looking for a good date night and enjoy the sultry humor, upbeat tunes, amazing vocals and awe-inspiring aerial feats at Va Va Vortex. Tickets are $25 or $35 if you want to sit up front at the V.I.P. tables. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8 p.m. There is only street parking, so you may want to arrive closer to 7 p.m. The Vixens will return to Headliners with a new show (Va Va Vunderland) for their annual Valentine's performance in February 2016.
