Every time I step foot in Just Creations my stress level decreases. There is something special about the energy there. Not only do they carry the most beautiful and affordable jewelry, home decor, baskets, planters, and knick-knacks, but I feel good about the story behind each one of their products. Just Creations' mission is to provide marketing assistance to low-income craftspeople in developing countries. So when I buy a planter, some earrings or the perfect affordable gift, a family around the world receives a fair wage and can then feed their family, provide health care or education. Can't say that about Target, can I?

This Saturday (July 30 from 2-4:00) at Just Creations on Frankfort Avenue (corner of Frankfort and Bayly), parents can get their guiltless shopping on while the littles participate in the store's first ever Passport Adventure. The store invites elementary aged children to travel the world through various stations representing different countries and cultures. Children will follow a pathway from station to station driving a Kenyan galimoto (a wire and fabric bicycle) and will receive a stamp for each of the activities they complete along the journey to South America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia . Prizes will be awarded to participants that complete the activities.

Chef Nancy Russman will host a booth called "Flavors of Africa" featuring foods from the continent that children can taste. There will be a Peruvian puppet show, tile-decorating in the Middle East, elephant mask-making in Sri Lanka, and paper art projects from the Caribbean.

Witness Fair Trade and family adventure this Saturday, July 30 from 12-4 at Just Creations, 2722 Frankfort Avenue.
