Todd Yohn has spent more than his share of time out on the road.  He has been traveling the country, from town to town, club to club for over two decades.  Playing to empty rooms and skeezy clubs Yohn managed to hone his wide-ranging stage act that blends more conventional stand-up, improvisation, and quirky music into one uproariously hilarious set that will leave audiences in absolute stitches.

Yohn began his career working as a traditional songwriter, under contract for MCA Records in Nashville, where he wrote songs for some of the industry’s biggest stars.  It didn’t take long before his comedic voice emerged and he found himself writing off-beat songs like:  “The Feminine Hygiene Song,” “Daddy Please Don’t Go,” and “Orange Barrels.”  Such songs have become staples of the “Bob and Tom in the Morning” radio show – a show that is one of the most effective springboards for stand-up comedians to gain both notoriety and performance credit.  Very quickly, Yohn found himself headlining small rooms around the country.

His dedication to the stage and the road has led to growing success, he has appeared on HBO, Showtime, and Vh1 – and worked with artists as varied as Glenn Campbell, The Four Tops, Charlie Daniels Band, and Joan Rivers (who jokingly deemed him her “favorite opening act in his price range”).  He is the true definition of Renaissance Man, a diverse mix of performance art that makes his show a diverse blend of comedy that will leave audiences with a show that is remarkably beyond compare.

Todd Yohn will be performing this weekend September 3rd-5th at The Laughing Derby.  There will be early and late shows on both Friday and Saturday – and tickets are available for $12-$15.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
