This Sunday is proving to be one hell of a day for all walks of life. Hopefully we’ll still be rooting the Cards on toward a championship victory (Cats? what Cats?), Rick Grimes and his band of merry zombie hunters will have their 90 minute season finale on The Walking Dead, and in trailer parks all across this great big republican red nation of ours, eyes will be transfixed through bunny-eared static on Wrestlemania.

And to pay proper homage to the athletic soap opera that had its heyday in the 80’s – The Bard's Town will be having their Roast of Hulk Hogan. Let’s be honest, of all the sweaty jackasses that have squeezed their steroid fueled beer bellies into spandex, and rolled around the ring in front of thousands of other overly intoxicated, testosterone filled fools, Hulk Hogan is by far the most ridiculous of them all.

There’s a lot for the comedians to play with. Beyond the fact that it’s a peacock sport of prancing and predetermined outcomes, Hogan’s incendiary personal life of feather boas, divorce, tragic reality shows, and personal predilection for dating women that brazenly mirror his daughter (in both age and appearance) should make for a fun show with no shortage of fodder. On the dais, you can expect to find Patrick Passafiume as Hulk Hogan and Mark Parris as Master of Ceremonies Vince McMahon. Not to mention Kent Carney as Mick "Mankind" Foley, Craig Williams as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Tyler Jackson as Rowdy Roddy Piper, Jake Reber as “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Raanan Hershberg as The Iron Sheik, and Sean Smith as Duwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The guys will be performing two shows a night (8:00 PM & 10:30 PM), both tonight and tomorrow at The Bard's Town. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
