
It only takes a moment to be elegant with the musical Hello, Dolly, which will premiere at Hayswood Theatre this Friday.
Hello, Dolly performances will occur on Feb. 25, 26, Mar. 4, 5, 11, and 12 at 8 p.m. each night. A show on March 6 will go on at 7 p.m. Matinee shows, meanwhile, will take place on Feb. 27 and Mar. 13 at 2 p.m. each day. Hello, Dolly will be performed at Hayswood Theatre, located at 115 S. Capitol Avenue in Corydon, IN.
Tickets for each performance are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $10 for children under 18 years old. Due to limited seating, reservations are strongly recommended. Hello, Dolly, features Ms. Dolly Levi-Gallagher, a widow, matchmaker, and expert on teaching random people how to dance. Dolly looks to wed Horace Vandergelder, the half-millionaire from Yonkers. Along the way, she will play matchmaker to Cornelius and Irene, Barnaby and Minne Fay, and Ambrose and Ermengarde.
Cathy-Butler Weathersby stars as Dolly, and Jim Arch stars as Horace Vandergelder. John Hardaway directed the production and also appears as the judge.
Hello, Dolly was created by Michael Stewart (book) and Jerry Herman (lyrics and music). The production was on Broadway for nearly seven years, totaling 2844 performances, and featured Carol Channing in the title role. The show was revived three times on Broadway.
Gene Kelly, meanwhile, directed the movie version of Hello, Dolly, in 1969 and starred Barbara Streisand as Dolly and Walter Matthau as Horace Vandergelder.
Following Hello, Dolly, Hayswood Theatre will present the musical Man of La Mancha. The show will occur in May, and auditions will take place on Mar. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at Hayswood Theatre. More information can be found at the Hayswood Theatre website.
