As its last show of the 2011-12 season, Hayswood Theatre will travel back in time and down to the South Pacific, which opens on Friday.

South Pacific performances will take place on July 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 8 p.m. each night and July 15, 22, and 29 at 2 p.m. each day.  All performances will happen at Hayswood Theatre, located at 115 South Capitol Ave. in Corydon, IN.

Advance ticket reservations are strongly recommended.  Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for all others.  Tickets can be purchased by calling the Corydon Convention and Visitors Bureau at 812-738-2138 or toll-free via 888-738-2137.  Some tickets, if not sold out, may be available at the door.  More information on the show can be found at the Hayswood Theatre website.

South Pacific is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that takes place during WWII.  Despite the war, love stories arise between Nellie Forbush and a French widower as well as Lt. Joe Cable and a native islander.  Unfortunately, the war and prejudice could destroy any chance for love.

Among the better known songs from South Pacific are Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair, and Nothing Like a Dame.

Charlie Swarens directed South Pacific, which features Laura Van Fossen as Nellie, Gary Crockett as Emile De Beque, Jon Driver as Cable, Lynn Benson as Bloody Mary, and Jack Sweeney as Luther Billis.

South Pacific premiered on Broadway on April 7, 1949 and ran for 1,925 performances before closing in 1954.  The musical was revived twice on Broadway, most recently from 2008-2010.

Following South Pacific, Hayswood Theatre will open its 2012-13 season with Til Beth Do Us Part.  Auditions for the show will take place tonight and tomorrow and the show will happen in September.  More information can be found on the Hayswood Theatre audition page.
