Floyd Central is set to present a variety of musicals, plays, and one-acts during its 2012-13 theatre season, the first season with a new director..
During the 2012-13 season, Floyd Central will present five shows, including: The Miracle Worker (September), The Music Man (November), Godspell (February 2013), Anything Goes (March 2013), and An Evening of One Acts (April 2013). All performances will take place at Floyd Central High School, located at 6575 Old Vincennes Road in Floyds Knobs, IN.
Tickets for each show this season will be $10-$12 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets can be reserved using Floyd Central's 24-hour box office line at 812-542-2284.
This will be the first season of directing at Floyd Central for Robbie Steiner, who took over from the now-retired Chris Bundy.
Floyd Central will open its season with The Miracle Worker, based on Helen Keller's autobiography. It depicts the sometimes volatile relationship between Keller, who was deaf-mute, and Anne Sullivan, her teacher and companion. The production will run Sept. 14-23.
The Music Man follows in November, featuring a con man who rips people off of pretending to put a boys' band together, then skipping town. A librarian in one town figures out his scheme, and the con man, in turn, starts having romantic feelings toward her. The production will run Nov. 2-11.
The 2013 portion of Floyd Central's season will open with Godspell. The musical features stories based on the Gospels of Matthew and Luke and combine traditional songs with modern rock music. Godspell will run from Feb. 7-10.
Anything Goes will follow in March, featuring a stowaway on a luxury liner who falls in love with an heiress. Unfortunately, that heiress is also engaged. Fortunately for the stowaway, a nightclub singer and a public enemy are there to help him. Anything Goes takes place March 8-17.
Finally, Floyd Central will end its season with An Evening of One Acts. The one-acts have yet to be announced, but the performances will take place April 19, 20, and 21.
