Floyd Central High School theatre arts presents an updated version of the classic musical Godspell, which opens tonight.
Godspell performances will take place on Feb. 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees, meanwhile, will go on Feb. 2, 9, and 10 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances are to happen at Floyd Central High School, located at 6575 Old Vincennes Road in Floyds Knobs, IN.
Tickets for each show are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $6 for students. For just $6 more, the VIP treatment can be acquired. All tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the box office at 812-542-2284. (Keep in mind the status of tonight's (Feb. 1) show is uncertain due to Floyd Central High School being closed today as a result of snow and ice.)
Godspell is a rock musical that brings strangers together to learn about the Gospel according to Matthew. As the strangers become friends and learn about understanding and love, they will also be part of classic songs like "O, Bless the Lord, My Soul" and "Day By Day"..
The show will be performed "in the round", which means audiences will literally be sitting around the stage. The recent Broadway revival of the show, featuring music from Steven Schwartz, was also performed this way. The Floyd Central show will also feature updated music from that revival.
Robbie Steiner directed Godspell with Chris Bryant providing musical direction.
