Big plans this weekend?  Getting out of town on that $4/gal gas tax?  Don't.  While most heads will be heading to a big 'ol Beatles tribute there is some funking going on that would be worth your time on Saturday.

Down at Zanzabar, there is going to be the ultimate soul ride going down with local maestros D'Arkestra kicking things off around 9.  D'Arkestra is a stellar bunch with an indie-jazz thing working that's quite wicked.  I've seen them play a couple times and they're just a lot of levels of cool all around.  While this is a delicious appetizer, the main special for the evening will be the returning Pimps of Joytime.

Having played Forecastle in the past, PJT are a mix of Brooklyn and New Orleans afrobeat funk that will sway body and mind to a place no one else can.  Really upbeat, genuinely positive, feel good soul jams that don't miss.  'Take the L Train' is a personal grooving favorite, although it's anything but a 'fast train' in the real world, as it leads one to the hipstery chic oasis of Williamsburg where this guy once resided.  Plenty of other songs are funktastic and it is certainly worth coming out for.  It will likely sell out so get there early as doors open at 8.  Big thanks to Silverback Artist Management (Fishbone, Slightly Stoopid, Dumpstaphunk) and see you cats there.
