Heaters is a band on the rise.  Not even on the rise yet, but a band that is going somewhere, and they’re going there soon.

The band formed in 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The power trio consists of Andrew Tamlyn, Nolan Krebs, Joshua Korf and began as a creative outlet for old high school friends, Tamlyn and Krebs, at a time when they found themselves living as roommates next door to Korf, and soon came together to jam.  Creatively they bonded and they knew Heaters was going to be a fruitful musical experiment.

Within a year, the band rose from playing in basements of friends’ houses for house parties, lit only by Christmas lights and playing for punch, to playing the finest bars and breweries in the Grand Rapids area.  The more they played the more the band generated a buzz among local music fanatics and packed shows everywhere they played, including sharing the stage with Jacco Gardner, Holy Wave, and Gringo Starr.

Their creative output poured fourth quickly.  Their psychedelic take on garage rock soon got the attention of Brooklyn based label Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records, as well as, Dizzy Bird Records.  The latter of which released their debut 7” titled “Solstice” last year – while Beyond Beyond is Beyond released their first 10” EP “Mean Green” this past spring.  The band has booked an extensive tour of the east coast and south to promote “Mean Green” while preparing to setup and structure and write what will be their first full length album, a release rabid fans have been begging for, at some point in the next year or so.

Heaters will be performing at Zanzabar on Sunday July 5th.  Tickets are still available for $8, and the show will begin at 9 p.m.  Moonwalks and TED TYRO will also be on the bill.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
