    Bit to Do

    A New Brain
    Print this page

Restarting passion during and after tragedy forms the basis of A New Brain, which Centerstage will present beginning tonight.

A New Brain performances are to happen on Aug. 15, 17, 19, 22, and 24 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees on Aug. 18 and 25 go on at 2 p.m. each day. An additional show also takes place on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. All performances will occur at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville, located at 3600 Dutchmans Lane in the Highlands area of Louisville.

Tickets for each show are $18 per person in advance or $20 at the door.  All tickets can be purchased at the door, at the Jewish Community Center, by phone at 502-459-0660, or online at the Centerstage website.

A New Brain features a talented but frustrated composer who must finish a song before a deadline. During the process, and after falling over into a pasta dish, he finds himself in a hospital suffering from a brain tumor.  What follows is a musical journey, both in and out of consciousness, through the healing power that art can provide.

William Finn and James Lapine created A New Brain, which is based on Finn's real-life issues with a brain injury.  John Leffert directed the production, which features Jordan Price, Tymika Prince, Lauren McCombs, Rusty Henle, Jeremy Moon and Jason Cooper.

Following A New Brain, Centerstage will present Les Miserables.  That production will go on in October.  More information on the show can be found at the Centerstage website.
