During the French Revolution, a peasant seeks redemption in Les Miserables, which opens at Centerstage this weekend.
Les Miserables will take place on Oct. 24, 26, 29, 31, Nov. 2, 4, 7, and 9 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees are to happen on Oct. 27, Nov. 3, and 10 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances will go on at the Jewish Community Center in Louisville, located at 3600 Dutchmans Lane near the Highlands.
Tickets for each show are $18 in advance, and $20 at the door. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended as, according to the Centerstage Facebook page, some shows have already sold out. Tickets can be purchased online at the Centerstage website.
Les Miserables focuses on a Jean Valjean, a parole escapee who was serving time for stealing a loaf of bread for a child. Valjean, a peasant, looks for a restart to his life but faces being shunned by society and policeman Javert's constant pursuit.
Meanwhile, revolution begins to form in France, and Valjean, along with many others Valjean will get to know, get caught up in the spirit and violence of the times.
John Leffert directed the production, which features Jeremy Moon as Valjean and Josh Gilliam as Javert.
