Looking for a laugh?  Nothing can relieve tension like a good, old fashioned laugh that starts deep in your belly and works its way up until it uncontrollably bursts out of your mouth.  And that is exactly the kind of laugh Mark Normand will illicit this weekend when he headlines The Laughing Derby.

Mark has a little creole in him, being raised by seemingly normal parents in the decidedly not-normal city of New Orleans.  Through some kind of Cajun, voodoo, hoodoo hybrid of conjuring, he made it through college and shortly thereafter onto a comedy club stage.

Normand now lives in New York City, he runs two shows and two podcasts – while appearing on Conan, Inside Amy Schumer, and a season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing.  He also finds time to perform in comedy clubs and at colleges all over the country.

Normand will be at The Laughing Derby starting tonight (August 14th) through Saturday, August 16th. Tickets range from $12-$15, and showtimes vary.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
