By now, it isn’t news to Louisvillians that Steve Hofstetter purchased the club that used to be Comedy Caravan, and turned it into The Laughing Derby earlier this year.  With a new direction for the talent and a little updating of the facilities – The Laughing Derby is quickly making a complete turnaround, becoming one of the hottest spots in The Highlands.

However, that’s not what you don’t know.

What you don’t know is that Steve Hofstetter also has a syndication deal with Fox network, where he will be producing a weekly stand-up showcase show, hosted by him called simply “Laughs”.  And tonight he is bringing the taping of “Laughs” home to us, when they will be filming at The Laughing Derby this very evening.

The line-up is huge, with a who’s who of local comedy veterans – performers on the bill Steve Hofstetter (obviously), Etta May, Alex Reymundo, Josh Sneed, Stewart Huff, Rich Ragains, Cleveland Jackson, Keith McGill, and countless others.

The taping begins at 7:45 tonight; tickets for the show are $12.  And who knows?  You might see your smiling face on the t.v.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
