What better way to spend April Fool’s day than laughing with a whole bunch of fools?

    That’s what I thought.

Tonight, at the Thrust Theater (2314 S. Floyd Street) on the campus of University of Louisville will be hosting the 2nd Annual Louisville Loves to Laugh Festival.  Following last year’s inaugural show, they’ve decided to expand the audience beyond UofL students to the general public, to come out and laugh while local theater students who hope to be studying abroad this summer.

The two hour show will begin at 8 PM, and will feature UofL theater students, local professionals who work in stand-up and improvisational theater will also be on-hand for the festivities and the fun.  The audience will be treated to an uproarious show packed to the rafters with improv games, stand-up comedy, circus performances, magic, gibberish, clowns, and masked mischief.

If you come out you will also get a preview of the next show in the University of Louisville Theater Department’s 2014-2015 season called “Hint!  A Masked Murder Mystery.”  Which is described as:  a devised play, based on the well-known, murder mystery board game Clue will be given a new twist involving elements of Commedia Del Art.

Louisville Loves to Laugh Festival costs only $5 at the door – according to the university’s website:   “All
proceeds from the show will go to support UofL students traveling to Milan, Italy, this summerfor The Fo Project.  The Fo Project is a multi-year endeavor in commedia dell’arte with participants from Italy, the U.S., Israel and Brazil. UofL students and faculty will take part in “Qu,” a world premiere play by Nobel Prize-winning Italian playwright Dario Fo that will debut at the International Expo in Milan.”

The site also notes that there is construction on Floyd Street in front of Thrust Theatre. For available parking, use the Warnock Street entrance to the Thrust Theatre parking lot.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
