If you have spent any time on cable, and ever landed on any show featuring stand-up comedy; then you’ve probably come across April Richardson.

Richardson has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that wells up from a deeply personal place.  Her comedy relies heavily on true stories of her life and relationships with men.  She’s hardly abrasive, but simultaneously never shies away from being blunt, straightforward, and honest with an audience.

Richardson was born in Georgia, raised as some sort of hybrid Southern belle with a punk-rock heart. After graduating high school she lived in England for a while, before returning home to attend Georgia State University. Eventually Richardson decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue comedy, an art form she fell in love with while in college.  She found a job working behind the scenes on E!’s Chelsea Lately.  That soon led to her joining Chelsea’s round-table of regulars, who would regularly mock pop-culture and the current events of the day.  The opportunity set her career into overdrive.

She is currently in the midst of a tour opening for the “Ryan Seacrest of Nerd Culture” Chris Hardwick, host of several podcasts on his own Nerdist channel, host of A.M.C.’s “Talking Dead,” and host of Comedy Central’s “@Midnight.” (the latter of which Richardson is also a regular contributor).  And since he’s taking the month off, Richardson is doing a run of headlining shows all over the country on her “Louder Than Bombing Tour” (note:  the Morrissey reference).

April Richardson will bring her “Louder Than Bombing Tour” to Louisville, Wednesday July 1st to The Bard’s Town.  The show begins at 7:30 PM and tickets are $10 – Kate Sedgwick, Raanan Hershberg, and Kent Carney will also be on the show.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
