    Bit to Do

Louisville Library presents Once Upon a Time: A Storybook Halloween at the Main

My daughter is cuter than yours.  I know this.  It’s a fact.  Her little round face is a creamy plain of feathery skin; dark, strawberry-blonde hair bounces all about her shoulders, catching the sun like a spray of molten rose gold.  No living creature could possess eyes of such steel-fox blue.  A doll.  I’m going to have a serious problem on my hands in about 10 years when she begins to blossom into womanhood, but, for now, this little person of mine is nothing but the most idyllic of cherub-faced innocents.  How can I make this better?  Ahem: Alice in Wonderland, fool!

That’s right.  Using little striped tights, a dorky apron and a frilly blue dress, my tiny slice of rosy child perfection is going to mary-jane right up to your door and charm the candy right out your hands, yo!

    I don’t have a problem with pride.

Nothing, in the opinion of this dark and deranged little person, is more blissful than a wondrous All Hallow’s Eve.  And my excitement is only compounded by the fact that I have a legitimate reason to once more traipse door-to-door.  But while my little lady and I still have a couple weeks to go before our night of frolic, the Library will have its doors opened wide in welcome for a host of all those little monsters.  Stop by the Louisville Free Public Library’s Main branch for Once Upon a Time: A Storybook Halloween at the Main branch.

Starting at 6pm, the Library will host a special event for children and families providing all kinds of the Halloween hullabaloo.  Join them “after hours” for spooky story times, games and treats themed on the make believe world of fairy tales.  Featuring performances by StageOne Family Theatre and the Brown School choir, Halloween crafts with the Speed Art Museum and a Costume Parade, you and your itty bitty can practice for the big night and enjoy some kid-friendly fun for free.

Ready to make some trick-or-treat mischief with your little ghoul?  Bring all shapes, ages and disguises to the Louisville Free Public Library and delight in the delicious celebration of your All Hallow’s Eve a little early – just remember my daughter’s still the cutest.

The Louisville Free Public Library’s Main branch is located at 301 York Street.

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
