Monday, October 31 is Halloween—the best night of the year to hit up your neighbors for free stuff. However, in some parts of the country, the quintessential fall holiday has been rescheduled in the name of weekend convenience.
Not here.
Well, Metro Louisville/Jefferson County trick-or-treaters are welcome to forage for sweets and treats on Monday—“Halloween is celebrated on October 31 in Jefferson County, no matter what day of the week it falls,” according to MetroCall 311. Same in Oldham County and Jeffersonville and New Albany/Floyd County, although Jeffersonville’s “official” hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and New Albany/Floyd County foragers are free to ring doorbells from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (This is according to the local cops, so if you have a problem…)
Metro Louisville has no such time restriction, but most people are tapped out by 8:00 or 9:00. The wild children of Oldham County also have no set candy cutoff time, although local curfew laws still apply.
Bottom line: It’s Monday, October 31. Halloween.
Daylight Saving Time ends the following Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 a.m. So take advantage of Monday’s dying light and get your candy when you can.
