This coming Saturday, March 21st, the Louisville Free Public Library is holding the first ever "fan" festival that is created just with teens in mind. It will be on Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm at the Southwest Regional Library.

LFPL wants to know, are you a fan? Do you have teens who are fans? Join them for this first ever event called Random Fandom. Kids and teens will be submersed in everything from Star Wars to Harry Potter, from Dr. Who to all the superheroes they can possibly know. Fandom--> "the state or condition of being a fan of someone or something or the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc."

This event is sure to please teens with a geeky, comic theme, "booksy" side. There will be demonstrations and activities for fans of all kinds; it's a day long convention of sorts and will include fan topics such as anime, books, video gaming, television and movies, and tons of games and activities to get your fandom on. The library staff will also be presenting many workshops on topics such as writing fan fiction and how to make chainmail jewelry. Teens can also participate in a cosplay contest, and of course there will be plenty of prizes to win.

The convention is free and open to all teens, grades 6 - 12. You can let the Library know if you will be attending by registering at this link, or on their Facebook event page. Teens who are on social media can join the conversation on the Library's Instagram account @louisvillefreepubliclibrary.

Be sure to tag your event photos with #RandomFandom; the photos will be streamed at the event in real time on a photo wall and will be entered into a special prize drawing. Also follow the Library on Twitter and use the hashtags #RandomFandom and #LFPLTeens.

The Southwest Regional Library is located at 9725 Dixie Highway. Call 502-933-0029  with questions or for more information.
