    Friday, August 1

The Main Library downtown is hosting its 11th annual AnimeCon for teens this Friday from 9:30am-4pm. Tweens and teens look forward to this event all year long. It’s designed for kids ages 12-19 and is a day-long trek through anything and everything anime and manga. As the library describes it, it’s an infusion and Asian culture and Japanese-style animation, and kids love it. Take a look at their schedule, located on their website. Pre-registration was suggested; the event is free. Call 502-574-1620 for more information.

Head to the Shawnee Library for a drop-in craft and make a dino mobile and play with fossil poetry. It starts at 1pm. The library is located at 3912 W. Broadway. Call 502-574-1722 for more information.

    Saturday, August 2

The SPOT Clinic will be parked at the Portland Library from 11am-3pm. Louisville Metro Animal Services will be offering  vaccinations and licenses and will give information on the care and keeping of your pets. They will be outside the library and encourage you to bring your dogs and cats if possible. It’s open for all ages. While you’re in the neighborhood, check out some new things coming to Portland, and hop into Good Garbage for a great upcycling craft opportunity for kids (10am-3pm). The library is located at 3305 Northwestern Parkway. Call 502-574-1744 for more information. Good Garbage is located at 2020 Duncan Street. Call 502-774-9900 for more information.
