    Bit to Do

The Louisville Free Public Library is booming this summer. Every where I look on social media, I see a post or a photo about summer reading at the library, or all the free fun friends are having with their families. The Library wants you to know: there are hundreds of things to do with families this summer. Hundreds? That's a lofty goal! Go for it!

The Louisville Free Public Library started off with a bang on June 1 with its ever popular summer reading program. You can be a preschooler and read and win prizes. You can be a school-ager and read and win prizes. You can be a teen and read and win prizes! And while you're there checking out all the great books and latest titles, setting up an online account to peruse eBooks or audio books, or getting set up to learn a new hobby or skill with Lynda.com, you can attend their dozens of programs a day all day long. So, families who long to spend more time together this summer, head to your local branch of LFPL and get your fun on. Oh yes, one more thing: it's all FREE. Every single thing you do! There are magic shows and science experiments. Storytelling and crafts. Games and storytimes. Teen book discussion groups and Minecraft. You name it, LFPL has probably got it.

Two programs that are especially intriguing are the Water Water Everywhere and Water Is Fun programs that the Library is collaborating on with the Louisville Water Company. These are excellent hands-on learning experiences for children, taught by educators with the Water Co. Space is limited, so call each individual branch library to get registered. Here is a listing of where the programs are being offered throughout the system:
