    A former children’s librarian who can’t stop talking about libraries…that’s me! Welcome to the second week of a new feature called “Library Life”, bringing you the weekend’s library events happening around the area, from Louisville to Prospect to New Albany and places in between. Let’s get started with this weekend’s featured library happenings, brought to you by a Louisville Free Public Library insider. This weekend is a little less scheduled with it being the Independence Day holiday, and all area libraries are closed on Friday, July 4.

    July is DIY Month at Louisville Free Public Library

    Learn about some do-it-yourself opportunities all month long at the Louisville Free Public Library. From knitting, crochet, and stitching clubs to artsy/creative programs like DIY tie dye, upcycled picture frames, and making crafts with old books, there is a program for every taste. See the library’s DIY calendar of events here.

    Thursday, July 3, 7pm

    The Main Library in downtown Louisville hosts an English Conversation Club. It allows non-native English speakers a chance to converse with English speakers to learn the English language or practice it in a very informal setting. The club meets weekly on Thursday evenings.

    Saturday, July 5, 9am-1pm

    The New Albany-Floyd County Friends of the Library is hosting a booksale in the Annex Building beginning at 9am. The booksale features 50% off books on crafts, hobbies, and collectibles.

    Saturday, July 5, 10am

    The Southwest Branch Library is hosting a Toddler Dance Party! Suitable for children ages 0-5, join in for a festive time shaking your sillies out, and enjoy lots of songs and games as well as a morning snack.
