    Bit to Do

    Louisville Becomes Beatersville on Sunday

Where can you find gearheads matched up with retro outfitted beauties? On Sunday, May 25, you’ll get to see that and everything in between at the annual Beatersville Car and Bike show at Phoenix Hill Tavern, 644 Baxter Avenue. Gates open at 10am.

To take in all the festivities, you should plan to stay for a while. The car and bike part of the event features vehicles born before 1968 and they’ll be showing traditional hot rods and customs.

And while you’re perusing the classic autos and bikes, there will be two stages of entertainment with bands playing matching rock and roll. There’s the Art Adams Band, Jane Rose and the Dead End Boys, the Elixers, MG and the Gas City Three, Keith Jones and the Makeshifts, Whisky Bent Valley, Nulydeds, and 3GC.

Then there’s the ever popular Miss Beatersville contest. It’s too late to enter, but you can cheer on your favorites. Last years winner ended up taking home $900 cash and also won a photo shoot with Ryan Armbrust’s Boudoir Louisville photo studio.

There are also pre-Beatersville hype surrounding the show. Tuesday, May 20, you can visit Bobbi Lynn’s Boutique, 6001 Pleasant Colony Court in Crestwood, starting at 4 for an event called the Pre-Beatersville Hoopla. They’re having a sale on punk, rockabilly and and pinup merchandise to get you into the spirit of Beatersville.

Then on Saturday night, Phoenix Hill Tavern is hosting the Rev-Up and filling the club with rock and roll and burlesque. It starts at 6 and they’ll have special hot rod parking while it lasts, so bring your own beater. You’ll find the Twisten’ Tarantulas, Hellfire Revival, Vice Tricks, Warren Ray and others on stage. You can also look for Shannon Million, Constance Morewood and Kittie Katrina when your tastes run to the burly-q.

There’s a $10 cover for Saturday’s Rev-Up and it’s $10 at the gate on Sunday. For $30 you can enter your pre-1968 vehicle.
