Pinups and patina at Beatersville Sunday
    Print this page

If for some reason you start seeing a lot more cars, trucks and motorcycles from the 1930s through 1968 than usual this Sunday, don’t be frightened: It’s the 2013 edition of the Beatersville Car and Bike Show at Phoenix Hill Tavern from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Whether you’re a fan of patina, polka dots or panheads, this show is right for you.

For $5 at the door (children 12 and under get in free), you can check out all of the awesome hot rods from the early age of hot rodding through the golden years of the muscle car era, alongside classic motorcycles – from WWII vintage to café racers – and trucks in their Sunday finest. And for the first time this year, you can get your red Solo cup on as beer will go on sale at 10 a.m. instead of at noon in years past.

If hot rods aren’t your thing, there’s the Miss Beatersville Contest, which is a much cooler beauty pageant than anything in Atlantic City; think polka dots, cherry print and vintage pin-up clothes. The winner of the contest will receive a large cash prize – $900 was given to the winner in 2012 – and a photo shoot package from Boudoir Louisville. There’s also music throughout the day from 3GC, th’Empires, Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys, Hellfire Revival, Vice Tricks and Newly Deadz to please your ears.

If you want to start your rock ‘n’ roll party earlier, there’s The Rev UP at Phoenix Hill Tavern Saturday evening featuring burlesque and performances by King Sonic, th’Empires, The Elixirs and The Hot Wires. A tenner will get you inside, and if you have a hot rod, special parking will be available.
