Great Bourbon For A Great Cause

Do you like bourbon?  Do you like helping people?  Mark your calendars for the first Bourbon Mixer on August 8, 2014 from 6:30-10 p.m. at The Evan Williams Experience.  This event is put on by the Kentucky Whisky Chicks and the Bourbon Brotherhood and proceeds go to The Coalition for the Homeless.

The Coalition for the Homeless works with area shelters and homelessness organizations to find solutions for homelessness.  According to their website, “The Coalition for the Homeless has 29 amazing members that work collectively to serve the homeless in our community. They provide housing, food, clothing, health care and legal services to every population including children, families and veterans. They move over 5,000 people each year from homelessness to permanent housing with support from our community.”  They educate the public about homelessness, advocate for the homeless in the community, and coordinate efforts to get the homeless into more permanent homes.

This fundraiser will take place at The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on the beautifully renovated Whiskey Row on Main.  The entire facility will be open for this event, including the exclusive speakeasy in the basement.  Imagine walking up to a bank vault door, giving the password through the sliding window, and being granted access to a beautiful 1920s style bar full of excellent bourbons.  Then you can go to the third floor to look out onto Whiskey Row from the upstairs bar, or to the second floor for the Speakeasy or Madmen-style bars there.  If you’ve been there you know just how awesome this entire place is, and if you haven’t you’re in for a treat.

There will be plenty of local bourbon celebrities on hand to make the evening entertaining.  Bernie Lubbers, the Whiskey Professor, will be there with Hickory Vaught to do their signature “Bourbon through Bluegrass” presentation.  Fred Minnick will be there to talk about Whiskey Women, the subject of his best-selling book about how women’s involvement in the history of whiskey.  There will also be a silent auction that includes such items as private bourbon tastings and events.

This is guaranteed to be an awesome night for an awesome cause.  Tickets are $100 per person or $180 per couple and can be purchased here.  Be sure to tweet me @LouGirl502 when you get your tickets, and I hope to see you there!
