New Speakeasy Tours At Evan Williams Bourbon Experience
    Print this page

If you haven’t been to the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on Main Street yet, get there soon.  In addition to the traditional tour, they are now offering a new “Speakeasy Tour” of the basement speakeasy.  I’ve been down there to tour the room when no one was in it, but I can’t even imagine how much fun it would be full of people drinking bourbon.

In order to gain access to the speakeasy, you must first guess the secret code correctly.  Only then will the door attendant unlock the heavy steel vault door to let you inside.  The room you enter contains a beautiful wraparound cherry bar area.  Once you’re seated at the bar, you will get to try Larceny, Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond, and Evan Williams 23 year bourbons.  Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about local bourbon history from local historian and author Rick Bell.

The Speakeasy tour will last 30 minutes and will only be offered Friday-Sunday at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.  It will cost $12 per person.  After the tour, tasting, and history lesson, guests will be able to visit the second floor gift shop to purchase a wide variety of whiskeys produced by Heaven Hill, the parent company of Evan Williams.  Reservations can be made in advance by calling (502) 272-2611, but are not required.  Regular hours for the Speakeasy Tour are Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 7p.m. and Sunday 1 - 5:30 p.m.

The Speakeasy Tour will be offered at a discounted rate of $9 during the upcoming First Friday Trolley Hop on August 1 from 5-9 p.m.
