In case you haven’t heard, Kentucky’s bourbon supply has exceeded 50 million barrels in the rack houses. We’ve all heard it said that there are more barrels of bourbon in Kentucky than there are people, and now there are way more barrels of bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. This is the highest number of barrels that have been aging in Kentucky since the 1970s. (Source)
In sad bourbonland news, Elijah the distillery cat at Woodford Reserve has passed away. He was loved by visitors and employees alike. Woodford Reserve is asking you to share your photos and memories of via social media using the hashtag #RememberingElijah.
Maker’s Mark is offering a new two-hour “behind the scenes” tour of the distillery. Click here for details. They also announced a new commemorative Tom Jurich University of Louisville bottle that will go on sale today for around $50. The bottle will serve as a fundraiser for UofL’s Academic Center of Excellence.

Today at noon at the Filson Historical Society, Mike Veach will be talking about the life and times of E.H. Taylor, Jr. The session is free to Filson members and $10 for the general public.
August the Whisky Chicks and The Bourbon Brotherhood are joining forces to raise money for the Coalition for the Homeless in Louisville. Tickets are $100 per individual or $180 per couple. Click here for more information.
