The Kentucky Whisky Chicks have become very active in promoting love and learning of bourbon in Louisville. Their latest endeavor is The Kentucky Sampler, which will take place over three sessions at Westport Whiskey and Wine. The first session will be held September 10 as a celebration of National Bourbon Heritage Month. This session is being billed as the “Salt River Sampler” and features bourbons from the Bardstown area.
According to the Whisky Chicks,
“Our journey begins Wednesday, September 10th at 6:00PM and will feature samplings from distilleries located in the Bardstown area, also known as the Salt River region, including Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam, Willett, Barton and 1792. According to Chris, historically many distilleries located along the limestone rich soils of central Kentucky because of the quality of the water. Geologically the two main water sources in central Kentucky are the Kentucky River Basin and the Salt River Basin. Salt River Basin water is considered to be the “harder” of the two. How might that have affected taste? Does it have any impact with today’s whiskey? It’s all in the taste! We are also thrilled that fellow Whisky Chick and owner of Art Eatables, Kelly Ramsey will be joining us to share samples of her delectable Small-batch Bourbon Truffles that pair with the Bourbons we will be tasting.”
Tickets to this event are $25, and if you buy tickets to all three events you will receive a special wide-bottom Glencarin glass engraved with the Whisky Chicks logo. This is sure to be a fun and memorable experience. Click here for details and tickets.
