We’ve all been voting for Louisville during Southern Living’s The South’s Tastiest Town Contest (or at least you should have been) because we value the diverse and fantastic food offerings this city brings its citizens. Now it’s time to show some love to another reason that makes Louisville one of the top 10 most livable cities. The Arts.
The Fund for the Arts is currently underway in their annual fund raising campaign and they need your help in donations and in celebrating their 2012 campaign kickoff. The official launch of the 2012 Fund for the Arts campaign will begin Tuesday, Jan. 31st from noon to 1 p.m. at the Brown Theatre. A special arts showcase will feature performances from Walden Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Louisville Ballet, Louisville Youth Orchestra, and more! Mayor Greg Fischer will be in attendance as well as Fund for the Arts Board of Directors and a surprise finale is promised for all in attendance. Wonder what that could be? This is a free event and a free-boxed lunch is also provided if you RSVP to (502) 582-0100 or email rsvp@fundforthearts.com to reserve your seats for today. If you can’t make it to the showcase, no worries, this year the Fund is holding their first ever Art-A-Thon telethon. The telethon began on Monday, Jan. 30th and has already raised $20,000. Call 1-888-551-ARTS from 5–8p.m. Jan. 30th- Feb. 3rd to donate towards keeping the wonderful programs and organizations thriving in Louisville. Donations can also be made online.
As an added bonus, when you pledge $52 per year or more to the Fund for the Arts, you will receive a personalized ArtsCARD as a thank you for your donation. The ArtsCARD provides discounts to many Fund member group performances, exhibits and events.

Fund for the Arts is the oldest united arts fund in the country, providing funds, facilities and administrative support to twenty-nine area arts groups and programs. In addition, over 200 community access grants are awarded annually to community groups and schools in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Last year a total of 194 grants were distributed in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
The cultural partners supported by Fund for the Arts are: Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft, Kentucky Opera Association, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Louisville Ballet, Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Theatrical Association, Louisville Visual Art Association, Louisville Youth Choir, Louisville Youth Orchestra, Stage One, Walden Theatre, and West Louisville Performing Arts Academy.
