    Bit to Do

You know who makes the best pizza in the Highlands…but it’s time to make sure. Here, have a slice—in the spirit of certainty, of course…

The Original Highlands Street Festival is moving indoors this year. Instead of taking it to the streets, the neighborhood is taking a taste of the Highlands this coming Thursday, September 23 with A Slice of the Highlands.

For $30 ($25 in advance), diners can enjoy pizza from a variety of competitors, beer and wine, dessert, live music and a vote for the Highlands’ best pie. With entries from Highlands mainstays Papalino’s N.Y. Pizzeria, Famous BoomBozz Pizza, Spinelli's Pizzeria, Bearno’s, ZA’s Pizza Pub, Flanagan's Ale House, and Mulligan's Irish Pub and Grille, there’s bound to be fierce competition—and plenty of personal favorites.

The Original Highlands Neighborhood Association, along with cosponsors Gilda’s Club of Louisville, Kentucky Ale and The Wine Market, will award the most popular pizzas with People’s Choice and Critics’ Choice awards. Critics will include

publisher John White Carlos, local food and wine writer Robin Garr and WAVE 3 personality Dawne Gee.

In addition to good food and friendly competition, a silent auction will benefit Gilda’s Club. The auction actually is the OHNA’s third such annual fundraiser.

A Slice of the Highlands will take place from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at The Church of The Advent, 901 Baxter Avenue (at Breckinridge). For more information, advance tickets or a list of silent auction items, visit
