To me, writing and cooking are the perfect combination, and you can enjoy the best of both worlds on Monday, March 14, at 7 p.m., at Carmichael’s on Frankfort Avenue, when award-winning author Chang-Rae Lee and renowned chef Edward Lee team up for a discussion on the creative process.

Chang-Rae Lee is a Korean-American novelist. His fourth and latest book, The Surrendered, has just been released in paperback. His first novel, the best-selling Native Speaker, won numerous awards, including the PEN/Hemingway Award in 1996.

Although Korean-American Edward Lee graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English literature from New York University, he quickly returned to his first love, cooking. As chef and owner of 610 Magnolia, Lee’s popularity is not limited to Louisville. He has been featured in numerous  national magazines and won the Food Network’s Iron Chef America last November.

Both the author and chef are friends, and they are expected to discuss their love of writing and cooking and how they both relate to the creative process. Author Lee will sign copies of his books, and chef Lee will offer samples of his dishes. Carmichael's Bookstore is located at 2720 Frankfort Avenue.
