Beginning this season, visitors to downtown Louisville, and especially patrons of Actors Theatre will have a new choice when it comes to dining-out options.

Chef Edward Lee, known nation-wide for his appearances on Food Network’s Iron Chef America and Top Chef shows, and locally as the owner and executive chef of Old Louisville’s renowned eatery, 610 Magnolia is set to open a new restaurant.

The sure-to-be Louisville hotspot will be located on the lower level of the Actors Theatre complex, and is expected to seat approximately 110 guests.

Scheduled to open in January of 2013, the restaurant’s concept, name and menu are still being kept under wraps, but the anticipation and excitement of the stakeholders is already palpable.

Says Jennifer Bielstein, Actors Theatre Managing Director, “We are honored to partner with Edward Lee in this new endeavor at Actors Theatre. The caliber of his culinary talent is exquisite. We could not be more excited to work with him to ensure we provide our patrons with an extraordinary experience and a perfect evening at the theatre!”

Edward Lee added, “I am excited and honored to be working alongside the much beloved and respected Actors Theatre. I hope to follow the same principles in my new restaurant that have guided Actors Theatre for so long—creativity, professionalism, craft, tradition and a willingness to take risks.”

The restaurant’s menu has been promised to be priced accessibly to patrons of the theatre and competitive to other area restaurants.

Prior to the restaurant’s opening, temporary bar service will be available in September, with the renovated Mezzanine bar to open in late November.

Actors Theatre opens its 2012-2013 season with Romeo and Juliet on September 4.
